The temperature remains about zero which according to locals is rather warm for this time of year. The sun is shining and the clouds are staying away. Given that the weather was so pleasant we emerged from the warm house to go for a nature walk. Next thing I know I was walking on water (well frozen water - which makes it easier). We saw a beaver dam (home), evidence of them chomping away at the tress; fish and water bugs under the ice; heard moose in the distance; and the cracking of ice. The ice I estimated was 4-6 cm thick so supported my and Barbs weight without any danger. The ice was clear, so one could see to the bottom.
Last night on a drive home from the Family farm we stopped in the middle of nowhere to look at the heavens - it was a cold, crisp, clear night and the ferment of stars was spectacular. If it wasn't so bleedin' cold (around -10°C) I could have watched it for hours.
Meanwhile I continue to buy the Canada Lotto tickets (prize is C$16 million). I think I have invested enough in it to warrant winning it!
All is well, and on sunday I return to Denver, Colorado, and then onto Mexico.
