From the frozen North to hot South

After viksiting Alberta, the cold in Colorado was very tolerable. The fact that Alberta was having such a mild beginning to winter helped. Cousin Barb told me that the great cold came soon after I left!

Now having been in Mexico for more than a few days, I am back happily in jandals as they are called in New Zealand. The weather is very comfortable (26°C - 78.8°F), the town, Puerto Vallarta is delightful. We are in a very comfortable apartment complex near the centre of the city.
There is plenty happening in the town, even though it is just the start of their high season. From the first of December the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe is celebrated here in PV until the twelfth : every night there are processions to the cathedral of various groups who bring their offerings. There is air of festival, with bands playing, dancers, bells ringing and a float of Our Lady. This involves all age groups and businesses. The cacophony is one of glorious colour, noise, and smells.

With lots of fine food and restaurants around, Rich, Tim, and I have been well catered for. We have been out of town once: for lunch and a walk around the Botanical Garden and onward to a great Restaurant Rancho Alta Mira which had under gone a great architectural and landscaping recently. The food and staff was excellent. Did the service and food excellence have something to do with the fact we were the only ones there?

In a few days time it is back to Denver and cooler temperatures.
