Travels 2008 Part Two

Autumn has arrived. there have been some cooler days and frost, but this has now bounced back to fine sunny, clear, dry days with temperatures around 25 C (77 F). The trees are turning colour, and those that have to loose their leaves are just making a wonderful show.

I with Zachary went up Pikes Peak (some 14,110 ft - 4300 metres). We drove up to the summit. It was cold - there was snow on the ground! We were adequately insulated. The views were magnificent. Could see 360 degrees - in the East was the Great Plains and the town of Colorado Springs, to the West was the long string of mountains known as the Rockies. I could not see Alsaka (or Russia) from Pikes Peak.

To get to Colorado Springs this time I took the Greyhound Bus. Long famed for its extensive
network and reasonable rates.

I went home on the FREX which was very efficient and had internet wireless on board so I could surf the net and answer my e-mails while travelling down the I-25 (Interstate Freeway 25).

My hosts Rich and Tim have been very generous to me and I appreciate their hosting me and making it possible for me to stay this length of time in Colorado. As part of their generosity I am going with them on one trip that will include amongst other sights the Grand Canyon. In early December I am going with them to Mexico - Puerta Vallarta for some much needed sun and Mexican culture. To that end I am learning Spanish. It will make for some interesting conversations.

At the end of November I am going up to Alberta, Canada to see some family and enjoy a proper cold winter!
